Call for Advisory Board Nominations!

Deadline: April 30, 2026

Do you envision a Virginia where a united, diverse, multi-ethnic Asian American community has the power to act together and realize our collective vision, values, and interests? Do you know someone who wants to help Hamkae Center become a powerful, positive, and transformative force in the lives of Asian American communities in a manner that builds political power, creates a sense of home, and is considered an everyday presence? Do you have skills, talents, and time to lend to a non-profit organization realizing these visions? Hamkae Center needs your help to find people to join the Advisory Board of Directors!

Hamkae Center Staff

Staff, board, and core community leaders represent the rich diversity of Asian American experiences, including Bangladeshi, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Korean, Pakistani, and Vietnamese heritages, as well as mixed-Asian American and multiracial heritages. Staff are primarily located in Northern Virginia.

Need for Hamkae Center Advisory Board Members

New board members would be entering Hamkae Center at a critical time in our organizational life. Hamkae Center recently completed their first strategic plan with organization-wide goals guiding them through 2026. Hamkae Center needs new Advisory Board members who are able to provide governance support to implement this strategic plan and keep up the momentum of running an organization that is seeking to meet the needs of growing and diverse Asian American communities throughout Virginia. In particular, we are looking for individuals with organizational culture, non-profit management, fundraising, legal compliance, and/or prior Board experience. Strong preference of nominations who identify as Asian American and reside in the state of Virginia.

Hamkae Center Advisory Board Expectations

We are seeking enthusiastic and engaged ambassadors of the organization with skills for long-range visioning and fundraising. Advisory Board members are also expected to attend board meetings every other month and to serve on committees or working groups. The amount of time of service varies by role (officers often carry more) but is estimated to be ~5 hours a month. The Advisory Board term is three years, and can be renewed once to serve a consecutive 2nd term.
