Thank you for being a part of our community—together, we achieved so much this year!
How We Made an Impact in 2025
- 121 community members strengthened their economic security through our Small Business and Financial Stability program.
- 120 community members received hands-on support to submit 57 citizenship applications and secure 21 fee waivers, removing financial barriers to becoming U.S. citizens.
- 276 healthcare referrals ensured families could access the care they need to stay healthy and thrive.
- 186 community members stepped into leadership through campaigns and grassroots outreach.
- Our team knocked on 5,385 doors across Northern and Central Virginia, educating and mobilizing Asian American voters ahead of the November 2025 elections.
- In partnership with William & Mary and Virginia Humanities, we equipped 18 K–12 educators with tools to teach Asian American and Pacific Islander histories—reaching countless students across the state.
- Engaged with 18 legislators to advance our community’s priorities and successfully helped defeat anti-immigrant legislation.
“I became a canvasser because I would like to empower our communities and families about voting and to be active in politics to determine our political future as AAPIs (Asian American and Pacific Islander). I really enjoy canvassing to our community and actively engaging with potential voters, encouraging them to vote and to educate the community members about issues affecting us.”
Cuong Huynh, Hamkae Center Canvasser
“Years ago, a friend of mine listened to my situation and helped me obtain my driver privilege card—introducing me to a resourceful organization I didn’t even know existed. Hamkae Center has supported my family in practical ways, including connecting my children to job opportunities as an immigrant and helping us to enroll health care access. When I faced serious health challenges, the support I received helped me access essential services and get through a very painful time. Because immigrants often feel overwhelmed and alone in an unfamiliar country, I became a Hamkae Center’s dues paying member to give back my support and help others find the support they need. I now share information about Hamkae Center with people around me so more families can get help when life becomes difficult”
